Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive teased something new coming to its asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, and it sure looks like Alan Wake will be involved. On Monday, Behaviour posted a simple but straightforward teaser: a flashlight cutting through darkness and laying next to a few blood-splattered pages.
Behaviour promises to reveal more on Tuesday, Jan. 9, but the Dead by Daylight community is already interpreting this as an Alan Wake-related reveal — likely as a new licensed Survivor. The star of Remedy Entertainment’s psychological thriller/survival horror series is known for his use of flashlights to burn away the darkness from his foes.
Dead by Daylight already features flashlights as an item Survivors can use to blind or otherwise interfere with the abilities of Killers. Alan Wake’s use of a torch in his original eponymous game and last year’s sequel was far more intense than that though, and could become a powerful tool in a Survivor kit.
We’ll know more on Tuesday, but as a possible tie-in for Alan Wake 2, Behaviour could also include another survivor, Alan’s co-star Saga Anderson. They headlined Remedy’s 13-years-in-the-making sequel to Alan Wake, but only Alan made the crossover to another game at the time: Fortnite.
Behaviour Interactive recently added Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise to Dead by Daylight as a Killer. The most recent licensed Survivor to be added was Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise.
